Tracy Womack is the owner of TraSea's Glassworks and an artist with twenty-seven years of experience in working with glass. The type of work that Tracy does is called flamework or lampwork because the glass is heated in a torch flame. Although she has made many forms over the years, her specialization is marine life.
Each piece is hand formed from a solid rod of glass which is heated in the flame until molten and shaped into the desired form. The unique colors are achieved using glass frits (ground up glass) and powders. No two pieces are identical. The variances in size and coloration are to be expected in original artwork and only add to the enchantment of Tracy's pieces.
"After all these years I still love working with glass. It is such an alive medium: the way it flows in the fire and dances with light once it cools." - Tracy Womack
